Mosquito In Winter

MOSQUITO IN WINTER A mosquito hovering over me, nearly June, With no direction whatsoever, well after noon, This pest had lost its way, Needed sun, had gone astray, Fooled by the heat of today, will disappear soon!

Your mosquito poem is lighthearted and playful that makes me, as a reader, feel the same. I want to share that I was going to write a mosquito poem out of anger that would have reflected same. They love me, I can protect crowds from them just by being present. The other night I got more than 10 bites in under s minute which cause swelling/burn/itching - I loathe them. Yours is much more beneficial to lifting moods! Hug w/ back pats ... CayCay

But ours are much more dangerous , not as dangerous as further North in Africa, but they still warn us to take tablets before, during and after our trip to the park, as it borders onto Mozambique. Don't you have something you can spray all over you if you are sitting outside in the evening, or light a special candle the hardware shops sell to keep them at bay, they sound as if they really feast on you! Pesky things, I hate them! Love you thanks for a lovely comment, Jenny.

A most enjoyable Limerick, Jenny! Whichever part of the world we live in, mosquitoes tend to come pay us an unwelcome visit. Luckily they do not appear to like me or my blood:) ~ Warm regards & hugs // paul

What an advantage you have on them, you can daze or zap them without them even knowing - dangerous visitors - I think I'm maybe immune, because I've had malaria as a child. Great comment Paul. Warm regards and hugs, Jennifer.

Dangerous pests who have been responsible for thousands upon thousands of deaths through the Malaria disease that they carry and new and more dangerous strains have been discovered - cerebral malaria is everyone's dread - in fact it has been suggested that the big five become the big six with mosquitoes coming 6th in line! thanks for a fun comment Lindsay, Hugs, Jennifer.

Hi Eve, they are increasingly getting stronger and mightier and news strains of mosquitoes have been revealed - do you know that suitcases are one of the ways these mosquitoes travel, people pack, and there is perhaps one in their clothes and it survives until unpacked and then pierces you. Thanks for the visit my friend and your very relevant comment. Hugs, Jennifer.

If there is dear Anne-Lise in winter, it is very rare and only because so far we are having a mild winter where our day time temperature goes up to 26 degrees centigrade! Weather patterns and night and day patterns always intrigue me - thank you my Sunshine Smile, I hope you are having a lovely weekend also! Hugs, Jennifer

Its actually more like a whine, maybe the S. African ones have adopted this noise to warn us that a killer is about to bite us - up in North Africa, malaria has killed thousands upon thousands maybe even millions of people, mostly children and infants, by this deadly disease carried by mosquitoes. There, cerebral malaria is the norm. Having said that we met a lady at a mutual friends house who was bitten whilst in the Kruger National Park - we always ask the doctor for a script and take the first tablet before, we arrive then again after our visit - one a week for 6 weeks - don't take any chances! This lady got cerebral malaria, but I have not heard of any other case. I do slap them silly LOL, when I hear or see one! Hugs, Jennifer.

Hi Allen , I am in Johannesburg South Africa, and mosquitoes are prolific throughout the continent of Africa. They carry malaria and have therefore been responsible for thousands of deaths much further north of S. Africa. as a child caught malaria when we lived in Zimbabwe, then Rhodesia, and I understand was lucky to have survived. Our winter season is June through to end of August. Thanks for a great comment Allen. Hugs, Jennifer.

Every country I guess have insects or animals or reptiles that give some kind of problem, somehow - they are thinking of adding onto the big five and making it the big six (The Mosquito) as it has caused thousands of deaths on this continent. Hugs, Jennifer.

Thanks Gordon - we have had our elections on the 8th May and the same party came in, but not with as many votes as the previous elections - we have a new President Cyril Ramaphosa who we are all comfortable with and he has promised many changes and future plans for S. Africa - hubby and I like him! Hugs, Jennifer.

I certainly will Tom but they are lazy when they find themselves lost in the wrong season, I think the mosquito wont survive another night however, our cold winter nights are progressively getting colder. Hugs, Jennifer.
