Morning Glow

Morning light Shapes itself into a feline cat As it crawls through my windows. Pattering against my sheets as it nestles, Butt first, On my face. I open my eyes to the blur Of glowing fur And shoo the little pussy away. But it only moves from my face to my stomach, Obviously exhausting by its long journey From the blazing golden anomolies of the sun, To my lazy lap. I sigh. Sit up. Stroke the golden hairs As the cat purrs and rumbles on top of me. I don’t want to get out of bed. I don’t want to leave. The weight is so friendly And I could not bear to disturb it. But alas, what could I do? The sky needs me awake, Needs me moving. Needs someone to run and rummage beneath the vastness of eternity. ‘It is only one day’ I whisper to myself. So I get up, Push the feline aside And grumble out of bed. The next morning When I wake up The cat is not there And I collapse under the weight of clouds.
