More Unempty Silence

Listen to poem:
I was dreaming But I'm awake now Lots of people were speaking Though I discounted their presence Ruled them out Tried to train and attune my ear for one voice I was conscious of it but couldn't hear it Closing my eyes made no difference Searching the crowd confirmed I felt the voice but couldn't find it All I could do was wait Look for signs Reflect and consider But in the meantime listen and engage in the voices and vibes around me Hear my own voice The air holds an empty space for that voice alone Something is carried on the breeze and brushes past my ears or heart, it's not sound It's a thought and I'll attune to listen in time
