More Than Just Trees

There is much to know about the trees. Always keeping secrets, these ancient beings, living libraries, Holders of the keys to Gaia’s vault; will sacrifice themselves rather than give away her truths. Such vigilance and dedication, noble sentinels grace the lands; they whisper make-believe stories in the winds. Unsuspecting humans think they are fact but, no tree will ever fail Gaia’s confidence. Humoring humans, is their game and believe me, these wise ones, guard the gates of history quite well; enjoy their stories but, don’t be fooled; they are more than just trees.

When you're sitting beneath one and there's just the right breeze; the leaves seem to whisper, as if they're sharing age-old wisdom. Thanks.

Hi MLK I enjoyed Darlene's comment below, but as for knowing that they are wise, i second your write 101 % - they are also beautiful and the older they are, the wiser they become! Hugs, Jennifer.

Yes, I hate to see the old trees getting cut down. Ever since our 2003 ice storms; people around us have been cutting the older ones and planting smaller trees. It made everyone so paranoid. Thanks for dropping by.

I laugh with trees. I play with trees. I sit under trees. I hug with trees. There is nothing that makes me feel safer. You are correct, they are the wise ones, M.L.

It's painful to see them come down; we don't take any down until and unless they have a fungus or if a storm takes the bulk of them down. One year, I recall a lot of new people in our neighborhood; there were many old trees and that year we had ice storms; everybody cut down the old trees and the sun shortened the life of our shingles by 8 years, because there weren't any trees up the hill.
