This is about the summer I was working in Glacier National Park in Montana-

Summer, Montana - I was twenty-one Cloaked in gray thoughts, far vision concealed Until I walked beneath your healing sun Your magical, lush mountains revealed In trees, symphonies of birdsong merry Your trails of daisies led me to streams Sprinkled with sweet pops of huckleberry Your lodges - open, soaring antique beams There, he found me - in silence, music heard Held me close in his arms in moonlit dance I loved that he loved my wellspring of words Then, September - and he- gone in a glance It is his unicorn charm I still feel Alluring, spellbinding - but it's not real. 5/8/18

Wonderful writing. I've been reading some of your poetry this morning and you are a great writer. This is beautifully evocative of Montana and lost love all at once. The silence and the grandeur. "I loved that he loved my wellspring of words" attesting to that certain way we fall in love. Well done. My best. Deb

Michelle, your sonnet enthralled me from the very first line.. 'Summer, Montana - I was twenty-one' - hooked! Gorgeous imagery was enhanced by your wondrous rhymes and beautifully expressed emotion 'I loved that he loved my wellspring of words Then, September - and he - gone in a glance'. Your closing couplet offers lovely introspection as well. Congratulations on your wonderful win with your splendid sonnet. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Your trails of daisies led me to streams Sprinkled with sweet pops of huckleberry made me want to jump in my car and head to Montana and I mean right now. A very enthusiastic poem about Montana, and a true love that got away?

Thank you, yes that was the most magical summer of my life - but no, he was not my "true" love, since I am sadly wiser now and know it would not have lasted in the Real World - take care, Caren!
