Mom and Daughter On Back To School
Vacation time barely began.
Nothing’s more maddening than
returning to school.
I think it’s cruel.
I just started getting a tan!
Dear daughter, I know it went fast.
The months come and go. They can’t last.
Think of girlfriends so sweet
and the boys you will meet.
Your school year could be unsurpassed!
Oh, Mom, tell the truth. You can’t wait.
When Tommy waves bye at the gate,
he’ll be out of your hair.
You’ll be glad he is there
in school for his teachers to hate!
