Missing the Melody

The thoughts of her deceitful schemes and yet I see her in my dreams I see a face time can’t replace and memories of ebon lace. She stole the music from my heart and tore our very lives apart. Our love was like a fairy tale I thought forever would prevail but with no warning one cold day she sadly up and walked away. She stole the music from my heart and tore our very lives apart. The heart I gave her now is found in pieces torn upon the ground and now I sit here all alone the sounds of life now monotone. She stole the music from my heart and tore our very lives apart. I gave her love right from the start but now sweet melody departs. November 25, 2018

Lovely but sad. Betrayal does steal the music from your heart. A great line. Congrats, John on your win.

Nice write John, could be a country hit, if you add a little bit, (hey that rhymes). Reminds me of a country song, when did the music stop playing, very sentimental.

Your poetry always leaves me with deep feelings, John. The sadness in this one makes me hope it was not based on a personal experience. The refrain is so haunting! A "fave" for me. Hugs, Carolyn

John, beautiful lyrics, could be a great sad country song... but never mind, she is the loser, never deserved your love - well done ~

Thank you, Constance. My son gave me the line “she stole the music from my heart” and said it would make a great country song so I wrote the lyrics around it. I’m glad you liked it. John

Sometimes, even though a heart is aching, until it is breaking- it is better to be away from someone like this, than to be so close. Your thoughts hold so many emotions. This is beautiful and tender. A melody within can always be heard, even if it is a soft whisper. ~ Brandy
