Mirror of Memories-Who Am I and Who Are You

11/18/2015 This mirror does not tell all of the truth. For it does not show the memories lost, as it shows the loss of youth. Who will remind me of where I need to be or who will remind me of when to brush my hair or my teeth. What will happen to all the things I love and with whom will I live when my memory is completely gone. I don't want to be a burden to my family or my friends. I feel alone and afraid as all my thoughts come to this slow end. My heart is broken that I know I will forget your face and this sickness will take from me all that in this life I hold dear and leave a life lived behind without a trace. Who am I? Who are you?

My mother's greatest fear was Alzheimer's. To keep her mind alert, she obtained a degree by distance learning, without a computer, in Humanities From Dublin City University. She was 70 years of age. She died 6 years ago at 83, as sharp as ever. Thank you for showing us the alternative life she faced, if her worst fears had come true.

Thank you so very deeply from my heart Jean. This story of your Mother warms my heart and I am so glad she was able to live her life with her memories in tact. My Mother unfortunately has not been as successful with her Alzheimer's and it breaks my heart daily. I am sorry for your loss and I pray someday we will have a cure for this heartbreaking disease. God Bless...Sharon
