Midnight's Darkness
I savored the meal
As well as one could
Under the circumstances
The schedule had been set
There would be no delays
A short shuffling walk
An icy clinking of chains
One seat – center stage
The viewers would get to see me
One last look at an evil
I had never come to terms with
Nor contemplated death
The countdown clock read
11:21
In 39 minutes
It and I would meet
Midnight’s darkness
