Midnight Pearl
Midnight Pearl
A young Romeo went to Tahiti
With diving gear and determination
He sought the finest pearl for his sweetie
For soon the two lovers would join as one
He found a shell far bigger than the rest
Disappointment came when he opened it
In a gown of midnight black it was dressed
For his lady’s soft hand it seemed unfit
White pearls he found -- none as grand as the black
He took the black pearl to a gem setter
Who, looking at it, was taken aback
He said next to white pearls, this was better
If you want to impress a pretty girl
Bestow the treasure of a midnight pearl
