Steel should slice through rust
The stringing should slice the fingers
There's no damage to either
Despite the tension
Everything is quite perfect
I'm the balance, not the weight
There is no sign of drag - firmly stationed
Eyes stay down, unfought serenity
As in this moment there is beauty
Fingertips to taut steel
Energy exchanged for music
Music exchanged for emotion
Emotion stilled, somehow
The strength of me dissipates on the air
Like the tune played
A moment can be gone
You can wish it away
Then the sky eats it up
The waves sweep the debris
And I'm just there
On the shore
Holding on still
Averting my eyes
