Merging of Two Muses
There are a thousand rooms in my mind
most are empty dust-filled walls with closed doors
Some are cold forbidden spaces
of forgotten emotions from long ago
Others are dim-lit realms of shades
where to enter can take my soul on an endless journey
of dreams that seem to last forever
though are never more than a second's thought
Then there are those my soul dwells in
seeking peaceful memories
when time is silent and I welcome a smile
held for such reflections
The mind can create a thousand rooms
as well as the sensation of forever
it does so when death knocks unexpectedly on our door
it does so when walking alone on an empty street at night
it does so when lovers gaze into each other's eyes
Who am I to say
and it can take forever to visit them
or a second...both are true
