Memorial Day Ceremony
Death knell sounds over our village green
For all the veterans who eternally lie,
Whose presence will never again be seen
Because on foreign fields they had to die,
We continue to ask, “What does it mean?”
So young and bold they were taken away
From family and friends to fight in vain
In battles so unnecessary, a waste I say,
Today we, left behind, still feel the pain
At another ceremony on Memorial Day.
