Melancholy Melody

MELANCHOLY MELODY You’re filled with dismay… and misery, is your... only friend As bleak as it is… even baddest of days... will all come to their end! It’s easy to say… don’t lock your feelings inside, But you don’t know why… you just sit and cry, you’d rather wallow, than swallow your pride Chorus It’s a melancholy melody, Sad songs without end… a soulful symphony Anguished emotions… you’re mourning and broken… You’re tragedies token… and, your love’s unspoken… It’s a melancholy melody! You’re lost and afraid… hopeless without any plan You are so reckless… without explanations How can you ever understand? When will you learn… stop feeling sorry for yourself! It’s time to get up, wipe the tears from your eyes And ask someone for help! Chorus It’s a melancholy melody, Sad songs without end… a soulful symphony Anguished emotions… you’re mourning and broken… You’re tragedies token… and, your love’s unspoken… It’s a melancholy melody! Repeat chorus and fade Copyright June 10,2018 John Derek Hamilton Posted July 21,2018

John I love these words. It just so happens I have a friend named Melody who is Bi-Polar and this really suits her. Thank you for commenting on my poem "Father You Have Sinned" I wrote that after hearing about the abuse by Priests at Mount Cashel Orphanage in Newfoundland 1989. Now here we are 30 years and the abuse continues. So sad.

This is wonderful, John, and I love the flow and rhythm ... I am also a fan of melancholy, and live on such songs, (have you ever heard Michael Franks' song "I Don't Know Why I'm So Happy I'm Sad" - it's sort of a theme song for the melancholy - I love it). Enjoyed this very much, my friend! :-)

Thanks Greg, only a musician could say they enjoyed the flow of this one, it changes up a little at times, but does flow, thanks for the positive feedback. Sometimes sad songs make us feel better, I don't know why, maybe misery does like company!

These are very uplifting lyrics, John. It is so difficult to pull oneself out of the pit, equally hard to ask for help sometimes because there is the fear that no one will understand. I like your song. Hugs
