Maybe one day

Maybe one day You’ll like me. One day you’ll Realize you miss me In a way you never did before. You’ll convince yourself Its because we’re friends And it’s just been a while Since we’ve been in each other’s company. But then we’ll meet up And your heart will do the thing. You don’t know if it’s skipped a beat Or stopped altogether But you know its nerves When you’re looking at me. You’ll play it off cool, A warm greeting And a hug you never want to end. You missed my touch And now you’re yearning for more As we pull apart. You’ll wonder about me In a way friends usually don’t. And you’ll come to realize That you’re out of the friendship zone. Your feelings for me Are beyond that now. Maybe one day you’ll like me. But I won’t hold out hope. I can’t wait forever And I can’t expect That one day you will.
