Mary Had A Little Lamb

Natural

Mary had a little lamb--followed where she ... go. Wherever she went, the lamb followed, but school, uh-uh--teacher said, "Just you Mary, no lamb in school." The lamb waited uphill as the school went on till the school bell rang and Mary ran up to her lamb and reached out but it frolicked the ground. Unpolished making that baa-baa sound. At the lake near the town she scrubbed back to snow vigorish wash although the lamb's coat was a light brown. At home late at night, prayed for a miracle. Dawn's light, a lamb aglow not white as snow but golden. Her face beholden of the Mary who had a little lamb--is glad she can share with Bo Peep her matured golden sheep.

Visual

Mary had a little
lamb, followed where she ... go.
Wherever she went, the
7-lamb followed, but school, uh-uh--
5-teacher said, "Just you
Mary, no lamb in school."
The lamb waited uphill
as the school went on till
7-the school bell rang and Mary
5-ran up to her lamb,
7-and reached out but it frolicked
5-the ground. Unpolished
making that baa-baa sound,
at the lake near the town
she scrubbed back to snow
vigorish wash although
the lamb's coat was a light
brown. At home late at night,
prayed for a miracle.
Dawn's light, a lamb aglow
7-not white as snow but golden.
5-Her face beholden
of the Mary who had
a little lamb--is glad
she can share with Bo Peep
her matured golden sheep.

Dear hilo, what if all the lines are six or 12? Would it be considered wrong? Im thinking of trying this contest but im not sure if i understood the rules . I love the way yours flow with great storytelling. I think from all your examples this one is my fave . Hope you and family are doing well. Sending you light

That'll be fine, I basically were looking for a natural setting and not uniformed with a formatted look, but like my family, and I ... it'll be fine Ink Empress, Aloha William

I'm just not intelligent enough to understand your contest lol... I've read through it several times to see if it would finally click but... nope! Still, I see how much effort and talent went into these poems and the contest idea! I'm blown away by your intellect and talent. Wish I could join you for the contest but this is one I'll have to pass. Good luck to all! Xoxo <3

https://www.poetrysoup.com/poem/samson_and_the_liar_parody_1644653 An obvious Alexandrine, 12-syl lines, halved by a comma to 6-6-syl.

My version creates an illusion where "little" becomes "tle" rhyme w/"go"--a set 6-6/no variant. The "6" concept steads-on; 66666..."the" is 6 rhyme w/"uh-" and the 2nd "uh--" becomes a variant 7-or 7 syl line, not 6. The next 6 looks like "uh--<-prev to next->teacher said, "Just [you]<-rhyme w/"school"of the next line is 6/no variant. Thanks Crystol
