Marriage Is a Risk

Marriage is a risk That takes real guts Your past gets frisked ~ Unkindest cuts It's also a gamble Especially today Couples skip the preamble Get divorced right away It takes a healthy commitment To which some are averse Why tie a forever-not If you can't undo a reverse It's a life shared together The ups and the downs There'll be some rough weather Some smiles, some frowns But let's not forget the number one thing Why so many couples exchange wedding rings Come good times, come bad; laughter or woe Marriage nudges and tweaks, forces us to grow

I chuckled when I came upon 'preamble', as your words reveals the reality of marriages' brevity that people flauntingly invest with their short-lived love affair after taking a jab at its sanctity GW, Aloha wk

Boy, your comment really nails it. You have spoken the unadulterated truth about what marriage has too often become in modern times. Touche, my friend! Aloha, gw

I like the line 'you can't undo a reverse' - and it is true, commitment can sometimes take work, but it does force you to grow, hopefully forward!
