Map-Eyes

MAP EYES In Michigan Say especially around Detroit Flint Saginaw What’s to see? What’s to do? Everyone heads north I-75 The Lakes! Erie Michigan SUPERIOR! There has always been this exodus Even in the old days when I-75 was just a dirt strip I think it has something to do with map-eyes- Those huge lakes surround the “mitten” Splashing south Like cool blue tongues The invitation is irresistible Mind’s eye can smell it in the air The wet Jack and lodge pole pines Camp fires Head high Shoulders straight and free Kids in their holiday red-white and blue Head north The boat Macinac Island I – 75 is a jam But there are map-eyes and Well for God’s sake! It’s the Fourth of July!

Traffic is also a horror here in Ca...I-80..one of the busiest highways in the country. Coming home from Sacramento last evening.. 10:30 or so...dead stopped in both directions. And we didnt even have a nice lake to go to..lol Nice one. love the map-eyes..BG

AWESOME JULY 4TH WRITING. I LOVE this one. Did you enter that free verse contest. NObody does free verse here like you, Sharon W, and a few others I have read. Happy Independence Day, Dave. That is funny. YOu would have a heart attack if that vow shatterer was after you. haha. That movie is BRAND new, but I wonder if you could catch it in Detroit. It sure won't be playing in just any small town. LUv,Andrea

If I were in Michigan, I'd join you on one of those trips up I-75 to the Great Lakes and enjoy a boat ride. Happy Fourth, dear friend! Love, Carolyn

Reads like an interesting place to be on this holiday..If everyone is going North, it might be quieter and more peaceful going South..Sara
