steam like smoke rises to join the clouds always upwards travel until it's time to gently fall directional choice straight ahead follow your line of sight forward motion, forward motion, forward motion the static from viewing the stopped really thunders in your ears your heart races train track train track train track until it becomes white noise there is no track so much space but not enough you can't reach the end of the line there is no line, there is no line, there is no line heading for a calm smash but it hasn't happened yet may never if you stand and stare that's the beauty and torment of stopped time in the shock of this moment nothing but the solitary is reflected in the mirror and the casement of time which tells of nothing it's impossible to imagine the devastation devastation devastation devastation when everything neatly ran like clockwork though the clock stopped moment of pause hangs the minute it resumes will be so loud until it's gently settles predictable predictable p/

Dear DD, your amazing poem captures the essence of the painting beautifully. The repetition of words like "forward motion, forward motion, forward motion" reminds me of the "chugga chugga" of a steam locomotive and the words "train track train track train track" reminds me of a racing heart. Thanks Rose, it's free verse to describe the painting. Paintings can describe themselves, so it's almost meditative to write x
