Lying in the Shadows

‘twas only yesterday life seemed so right;
so rife with color, lighting up the day,
but now a veil has covered up the light,
and turned the day a somber shade of gray.

The fields we used to roam were lush with bloom;
the summer flowers swaying in the breeze.
Like nature's beauty, love, I did presume,
would last forever, always there to please.

But in the autumn, love was put to rest;
she callously untied the binding knot,
and ripped my bleeding heart out of my chest,
then left it in a pool of tears to rot.

Now love lies dormant, sadly torn apart
within the shadow of a broken heart.

The emotive words in your write reflect the pain you went or are going through -very sad, If fiction great poetry, if not, still great poetry, but you are a strong, handsome faithful man and the next time love comes around, it will be truer, stronger and forever. Hugs Jennifer.

This is very emotional my dear friend. Love is like a flower, when nourished, moments will bloom- but if left alone. Love slowly dies. Your thoughts tug deeply at my heart. This is beautiful, tender and sad- all at the same time. ~ Brandy

Thank you for your thoughts and comments, B. Your words are so true, the flower must always be tended to or love will die. I am glad you could feel the deep emotions in my words. All the best my sweet friend. Hugs, John

Thanks for comment and visit, Sunlite. This is fiction, written for a contest. I was trying to inject a deep emotional feeling, perhaps I have succeeded. John
