Lunar Poem
Silver fading fast of midnight bliss
the starry twinklings peering through the mist
hearken all the baleful tidings
along come the scavenged ridings
along come the fearless storm
broken from the seal of worms
it is death in its serpent night
riding along the pale moonlight
but the sky is not its kingdom for long
trumpet the hounds with their hunting song
the pace is quick and jagged yet
on with the chase, cast the lunar net
o' how the starry fires burn bright
to light the sight of the hounds' swift might
so the death of nightly fear is caught
and a sweet sleep can be had, the kind we sought
