Luminescence

My eyes have grown so accustomed to the dark that your radiance often blinds me. The warmth of your luminescence seeps into my skin and penetrates my soul. Despite my fascination with your light, I find myself seeking refuge in the shadows. I long to bathe in your warmth and let your rays dance across my skin, but I fear once it grazes my fingertips the shadows will swallow it whole. So I spend my days shivering in the dark and watching you from afar; absorbed by your light and dragging my fingers along the edge of the dusk. And maybe one day, when I've driven myself mad with yearning, I'll be forced out of the comfort of these bitter shadows and let myself into the light.
