Loving God After the Flood

(Song of a Ransomed Son) Just after the flood; the ground's moist but quite firm, It is all over now; we've survived to this point, But the lives are snuffed out of wife's family, "friend," As the ark spills its treasure, it feels this dead end! For I've felt the ground vanish from under my feet! Under prominent rainbow, with life, there's defeat. Humility's sacred, but anger's my King! If not son of my father, I wouldn't be here. Once each day promised sunshine and seasons of care, But a world that's just water? There's no there that's there. And my futures all yawn like a tomb sans its stone, (Though I know that God's there) somehow feel more alone. God’s discipline really can cut like a knife, His love feels autocratic as if I’m just toy, Seems impossible dream (in the moment) He'd share! Why is “Say it!” a sin? God's WILL's too much to bear! Men deserving of death who find fault with this life? Or beyond understanding who’d make death their wife? It’s true for all time; life’s a fatal disease! And the sentient living must dream of a cure! Feels there must be a soul (if I don't condescend) Or imagine impossible (God is my friend?) Overwhelming to think of connection at all, But His Grace seems improbable; my lot's to fall! It's slowly we learn who real friends are (at best), For the best friends are loyal and never betray. It takes time to adjust, to believe that they’re there, That their feelings for us are a lasting affair, I may lack certain knowledge that God loves 'my way,' But His ultimate gift is when sun greets each day!
