Love's Ponzi Scheme

Love’s Ponzi Scheme I cut it as I told the world of love carved deep into the bark for all to see two hearts conjoined with arrowed I love you the tree roots failed- it’s gone - and so is she for love could not constrain her roving soul nor I fulfill her never ending needs the shadows of that tree are ever gone and yet in shadowed pain my heart still bleeds for I was promised love with all its ties committed to it heart and soul and mind for her it was a Ponzi scheme of lies fulfillment of the adage “love is blind” and yet I still believe her love was true for I still hear her whisp’ring “I love you” ©3/25/2021

Love your sonnet, John. Quite Shakespearian. And the emotional charge it emits rings true while the deft mastery of its composition is apparent. Thank you for sharing it with us.
