Pain has left me sure
I’d never feel delight again
Knowing that this world
Was a place of anger –
Sorrow and despair
Regrets have colored my heart
In hues of steely gray doubt
Shadowed by the dread
Of a tomorrow without hope
For the light of love and inspiration
Dreams have been threaded
With black clouds of worry and fear
Lamenting with mournful tears
Breaking away all my thoughts of sincere
Affection, kindness and acceptance
Finally love fell across my heart
Pouring light through the darkest parts
Healing, helping, hurrying to reassure
That feelings would bring the burdens
A comfort which kissed away my uncertainties
