Love’s Hearty Plea

Love’s in the blue, the sky, the bird, the ray. Xanthous flicker of light - the brilliant sun. And white, the vellum space - she spills her day. Emerald gown, her dress; hair golden spun. Across the tiresome sea, the divide’s great. Reflective waves imagine softest curls. Easygoing, flashy morning, this date. The reds turn black and storm’s a beast of whorls. Yet, he hangs on a crest of splintered wood. Seaman’s invested in a hearty plea. “Call me back home. You’ll find me all good.” He sings “Siren of mine, I will find thee.” It’s in his dreams, though waves do kick and bruise. She dreams it too, that it’s his fate to lose.

Well, my great grandfather was captain of his own ship, back in Sicily, went down with his ship in a storm -- the old code of the sea. No one rules the sea. It is our contrary lover. Another enchanting adventure you gift us. Captured reader.

Oh that is so sad, dear Joe. Occasionally we meet someone who has a real tragedy. Yes, a captain who escapes, leaving anyway who is alive behind, is truly sad. That is also why that position deserves respect, being responsible for all souls on board. Thank you!

Beautiful work! The first line draws you in like a moth to a flame! Then you engage and impress. Is this for contest? Great job

Your seafarer's poem is quite unique. It stirs feelings of danger and hope. Nicely poetized.

Gosh this is beautiful—I love the dreaminess, the play with light, the romance. My favorite line: “And white, the vellum space - she spills her day.” Gorgeous imagery throughout. Love the waves kick and bruise line as well. Amazing writing. I’m smitten.. could be the work of the siren (: always Laura
