Lost To the World
Lost to the world I walked across shore
Taking in sweet wind and scent of fine ocean
I barely could figure out a form
As I felt sand wash off my feet
I marveled at the beauty of deep waves
An array of words left unspoken
Shivering in cold beside myself with fear
I could feel my waist move as if to dance
To unplayed music heard by me alone
All feelings came flooding back
As piercing eyes made my neck crawl
I saw a hound of beings approach
I could hear the raging storm roar
Perplexed I backed away in awe
In such solitude there was nowhere to turn
Shadow of blurry faces loomed close
To consume that turmoil that raged within
Ready to pounce I shivered in shock
Frail figure was swallowed up
By lingering crowd of haunting eyes
Dark waters flowed to wipe away any trace
Of life which was once hearty
Then they disappeared one by one
As though they were never there before.
