I thrive for summer, dancing free yet, when autumn breathes a sigh whispers, deep, that voice to me shadows stretch to kiss goodbye the nape of August, bound to die seems the seasons know us best when we ache for change, it comes bright-adorned - October’s breast crimsons, umbers, scarlets, plums shades cascade in countless sums still, what speaks to me the most sharp and keen - that mistral, fall shoulders back my youthful ghost dressed as then with passion's pall so waiting, breathless, for her call then, like now, my heart did beat with the hopes to catch her gaze 'twas only there I’d feel complete lost amidst her wondrous ways ... lost to love - those autumn days. ~ 2nd Place ~ in the "Strand No 800, Any Theme, Any Form, Finale" Poetry Contest, Brian Strand, Judge & Sponsor. ~ 4th Place ~ in the "2019 Poetry Marathon Mile 14" Poetry Contest, Mark Toney, Judge & Sponsor. ~ 1st Place ~ in the "Bring On Fall" Poetry Contest, Francine Roberts, Judge & Sponsor.

Greg, this is my first exposure to the Quintain (English) poetry form. "Seems the seasons know us best, When we ache for change, it comes..." Love it! Plus, autumn is my favorite season :) Congratulations on your win on mile 15 of my 2019 Poetry Marathon Contest. Thank you so much for supporting my contests. By continuing to place in the contests you are accumulating points toward the final. ~Mark

This is so nice, Sandra, thank you so much ... this one was a joy to write, and I love the rhyme scheme - that's the best thing about contests for me, it forces me to try forms and styles and subjects that I might not otherwise, and I discover other things in the process. Blessings, Dear Friend! :-) <3
