Tim, again, thank you so much for your input and help, I am very grateful.

I am going to leaf you 9 times leaf you I smirk I beam I reach for you You dance around Intangible That is one! 8 times leaf you Little One I lead Come with me You smile You laugh Alluring as dawn That is two! 7 times leaf you You, lively so joyous  Banter in speech  I taught you That is three! 6 times leaf you Don't leave me! Anyplace I go you follow That is four! 5 times leaf you Little One don't realize our hardship That crooked shy smile protection and comfort That is five! 4 times leaf you I take your place I shield you Don’t show yourself be quiet That is six! 3 times leaf you We go Little One, seize your leaves we flee Stop singing hush hush! That is seven! 2 times leaf you Don’t dance take your leaves fly!  Go! leave me! That is eight! 1 times leaf you Yes, leave me,  I find you, wherever you are  Little One,  I hear you in my mind  in my heart Fade your voice from my memory That is nine! I leaf you. You left. *** March 5, 2017 © Darren White

Wonderfully heart-wrenching and exquisitely poignant ... I would love to know the story someday, my friend, should you learn to trust me with it. I know that is earned. Beautiful. <3

Very meticulous, (even your photo has nine leaves!) I still have a few more to read before leaving a comment! But I must say I adore your work, Duir /|\

Hi Darren, I agree with the others below, this reads like a sinster game. Nonetheless it was well written. Bravo to you for being the voice for some little boy or girl who hasn't found their own voice. A without a doubt seven- Alexis

There still rings a sadness in this though I believe it is hidden by something fun, a distraction of sorts to pass the time and take thoughts in a different direction. Nicely done my friend.

You see that right. He had/has this ability to bring light into darkness.

Sounds like a rather sinister game to me but I'm not sure. Is this from the perspective of the abuser? So strange...but almost hypnotic.

It is a game with a dark undertone indeed, but it is between me and him.

I see behind the words and count the times this cunning person leafed the child. This hurts very much and it is extremely deeply expressed well.

Good Morning Darren. I will not pretend I understand the deep meaning behind this gorgeous piece of poetry for the meaning heart and soul belong to you and always shall. What I do know and see is poetry and beyond. May no child be lost in any way. Bless the Little One. Allow me to say it was an honor to turn to your page this morning.

Morning Lisa. It is a very difficult series for me to write, because it is about myself. Therefore it is important to me to write as abstract as I possibly can, whilst still produce a piece of good poetry. Your remark proves that I chose the right approach :) Yes, bless the Little One indeed. Thank you so much.
