Lost
You were my everything, yet I treated you like I would anything.
I was drowning in my own head, you threw a rope and I let it sink.
I was willing to sink with it to the depths of rock bottom.
You were everything and more, but I couldn’t tell until I looked up through the water.
By the time I swam to the surface you were gone.
Now I float alone in this ocean trying to see if I can swim on my own.
I hope someday you’ll return, this time i will appreciate you.
Not as I’m gasping for air, but as We watch the sunset from the beach.
It’s unfortunate I had to drown to really see how beautiful you are.
