Looking Up

I'm just trying to catch a thought As they fly past on the faulty conveyor That needs a factory settings reset I plucked from the air, the word 'doting' Looked it up Went back to my original thought I was thinking 'why can't I be doting?' My image of the word isn't quite the dictionary definition I imagine it to be 'always switched on with love, in service to another; never distracted by another focus' Another example of how I can be unkind to myself, setting the bar too high Imagining all those doting mothers I take your dictionary definition And raise you, words that aren't written So I can criticise myself Maybe I should check the dictionary for more words of things I am or I'm not Maybe I've got credit I don't know about *Dictionary definition of doting: showing a lot of love for somebody

I enjoyed this piece as I relate to the struggle myself. So often certain words take on meanings to people other than what is the reality. Interesting and well written. Have a great day ! Darrell

Interesting ... I had to look up 'doddering' and it fits me to a T. Joking aside, these thoughts you have shared here are very true: often we think that we are alone in a certain matter, when there are many others who share the same values, sentiments, etc. I am sure that you are a doting mother, but not to the extent of self-destruction. Thanks Suzette, it's funny how if I heard a friend say out loud the things I think I'd immediately be able to put them straight with logic and caring yet I'll sit with a horrible thought for decades without questioning it
