Longing

I’m weary of this winter and it’s chill that wraps around me tightly like a glove and robs my aging spirit of its will while leaving lonely hearts devoid of love. I’m tired of hibernating in my lair as never ending darkness lingers on, and locked within my mind is dire despair; the thoughts of warmer days forever gone. I dream of brighter skies to fill the morn; the pastel colors seen at break of day when nature blooms as all of life reborn and fills the heart with beautiful display. I long for warmth of springtime to expose and touch the tender petals of the rose. March 28, 2020

John, your golden pen is in fine form again with another powerful sonnet. This captures the darkness of these days that blur from one week to the next. I too dream of brighter skies to fill the morn. Thank you for putting into words what so many are feeling these days. Best wishes ~ John

Exquisite sonnet, John, full of amazing imagery "that wraps around me tightly as a glove." So many people feel that as the world self quarantines! Congratulations!

A verse to lift our spirits John, we certainly need distractions in these dark days. Death toll in the UK has just passed the thousand mark, frightening indeed. Hope you and yours stay safe and well. Tom

Thanks, Tom, it seems like that is all you hear about on the news. While we do need to stay informed, we also need a break once in a while. Times are getting scary here in the US, new cases are exploding all around us. Stay safe my friend. John
