Long Years
Reflections of the moon in shallow water
the stillness of night after rain
Heaven has granted me some long years
soon Heaven will want them back
The calm of loneliness disturb
by the yearning cry of an stray cat
A sudden chorus of dogs barking
echo and haunt the shadows of night
Of all we are of all we achieve
thrown against the vastness of time and space
Closing my eyes I see her beautiful face
so young was love so long the years.
Do angels cry for humans
Does the wind carry prayers up high
is hate the wage of sin
Why is love easy in youth
Stepping in the puddle the moon dissipates
raindrops fall again as the night entwines
I walk alone full of memories in a empty heart
Seeking shelter, desiring sleep, holding hope.
