Lonely Haibun

Tonight from green meadow floor among blades of damp grass where deer had grazed earlier, I go walking beside a lonely country driveway. Up on the ridge the pines are silhouetted in faint town night-life glow. A simple slice of twilight life Carol. Your words, "damp," lonely," "faint," empty," powerfully set the scene of emptiness all resolved in "Venus dives in" and "gaiety." Really nice penning. Best wishes for the contest.
