Living Without You

Growing old without you sounds so scary,
but I cannot rid my mind of that thought.
And it's almost too much pain to carry,
knowing you could not win, although you fought.
Your passing was all I had on my mind,
my only focus was comforting you.
Now, having lost my guiding light, I'm blind
to all things, not knowing what I will do.
I cannot fathom living without you,
although I know it is what you would want.
And so, that is what I must try to do,
though thoughts of joining you; still subtly taunt.
Losing part of my soul's so traumatic,
my daily tasks run on automatic.
