When I was living in the shadows
Where darkness colored
My world in hues of sadness
Fear, worry and dread
There was never a sense of hope
To inspire my heart and soul
With joy, peace and love
Feelings sent from heaven above
As I began to listen
To the wisdom of His spirit
The mercy and the grace
Put a smile on my heart, my face
Rained down inspiration
Through my life, my imagination
Filling me with a sense of peace
Because I knew the wonder
Of His light, His joy, His kindness
The love that erased every fear
Dried up all of my tears
And created in me a spirit
Of beauty, brilliant and radiating
The hope that He brought to me
When He sent His love through me
My life’s greatest performance
Was no performance at all
It was the moment when I found Him
Alive inside my soul, where I know
He fills me, meets me, frees me
With a peace that is beyond knowing
A wonder, a hope and a joy
Love that reassures me of redemption
The truth is that He is the gift
The Son, the One who brought to life
The miracle of His sacrifice
In my heart and soul, where I know
He is the answer to every doubt
He is the response to my prayers
He is the whisper of wisdom
He is the reply sent down from heaven
To a heart that believes in Him
With a belief that is alive, like the air…
I need Him to breath, to live, to see
Love, His light, pouring into me…
Freeing me from the past and reminding me
He has freed me from every shadow!
