Listless Song Of The Starving-POTD

Israeli hostages and Gazans hollowed,
the dark cold cruelty of some in humankind.
Gray circles under frightened eyes,
bones protruding from fading frames.
Listless song of the starving,
grieving God. ~

Dear Regina, A belated congratulations on your POTD. The genocide in Gaza grieves my soul, especially knowing that it is 45% children and yes, "God is grieving". You might want to read The world watches and waits which I wrote in 2024 on this site.

Everyone’s both right and wrong in some way Regina, that’s the tragic complexity of this conflict. I appreciate how this poem avoids taking sides and instead centres on the collective human suffering. Too often, people use platforms like this to push one narrative, but your poem offers a rare balance. Sadly, until the hostages, the human pawns of this war are freed, the suffering will only deepen.
