Jerry's 'My Song' Contest ~ July 18, 2025

I saw you across the room and I knew I shouldn't stay But you walked up to me and said, "How've you been?" I couldn't walk away. I can't find the right words to say. You etched the scars inside of me Can't risk opening the wounds again but from loving you, I'll never be free The look in your eyes says you still care Now what am I supposed to do? My heart refuses to play fair I love you but I thought we were through Chorus: Lingering, why are we apart Lingering, you broke my heart Lingering, should we make a new start - tonight I want your arms to hold me I want you to love me tonight I remember your sweet kisses Maybe this time we can get it right When you smile at me that way I'm willing to give us another try but if it's not what you want, too then once again, we'll say goodbye. But I won't fall into your embrace My heart can't take losing love again If you tell me no, I'll turn and go I can't stand here and pretend. Chorus: Lingering, why are we apart Lingering, you broke my heart Lingering, should we make a new start - tonight
