LINGERING
Photographs linger in my mind— faded snapshots of a backyard, the swing creaking in the breeze, the taste of lemonade, the warmth of sun-soaked afternoons. I chase those moments, but they dissolve like mist, leaving only the chill of absence, the ache of what was, and what will never be again. ©2025 Sara Etgen-Baker

With such gentleness, you convey a beautiful message here. I find it amusing how life appears to be squeezed and brief. Assuming we can view it all positively and make the most of each day, it's generally not a negative thing. Stay well and be happy!

I appreciate your visit, Sotto, and your bit of wisdom. Thanks for your kind words....I think I was feeling nostalgic when I wrote this poem...I generally stay positive but like to acknowledge my feelings at the same time. Enjoy your weekend, Sara

It is an ache but my hopes are that heaven gifts something of the things that hurt here on earth. As we grow older the past fades and we lean into what is. Not easy…sigh.

I agree...leaning into what is takes faith and patience....not easy for sure.

Sara, photographs can be so inspirational for creating verse, right? "I know the depth of those captured moments..." (from a poem I did titled Photograph V2). I love photographs, and I love your poem.

awww, we share a love for photographs. I'm especially drawn to those black and white photos my mother took and kept. Glad you loved my poem. Have a pleasant evening, Sara

Sara, you express some lovely sentiment here with tenderness. Funny how life seems so short and compressed. It's not really a bad thing as long as we can think about it all in a positive way and enjoy every day. Take care and smiles!!!
