There were pink blossoms on the trees
that fateful day. The teasing breeze
whispered of love as their eyes met;
they lingered there till the sun set.
The days went by since that first kiss;
their dancing hearts were wrapped in bliss.
The smell of lilacs filled the air.
They had their dreams and love to share.
But cruel fate took him away,
no mercy shown, tragic the day
when she was left in tears, in pain;
she longed for him, but all in vain.
Her aching heart, a pitch black room
wherein no more do flowers bloom.
She lost the will to bathe in hues,
the songs of life have turned to blues.
