Penn Station, 1943 - WWII soldier says goodbye to his wife before shipping out. Description from indulgy.com. I searched for this on bing.com/images

Lilac Hours In the gallivanting shadows of old days romance, a time when courting had a real finesse, marriages were made in movements of a dance to which the ladies would so kindly acquiesce. July evenings bought a quiet moonlit rendezvous with a caller usually dressed as soldiers might. Radios were playing melodies in midnight blue as they shared love’s ecstasy of sheer delight. How nonchalant the heart is when it's safely kept through years without precarious events. But now bent knees and memories are all that’s left, and lilac hours when life was innocent. The simplicity of old time ways we often seek, a courtship that leads straight to wedded bliss. This easy evolution makes it quite unique. Gone is the lilac world and fear so strong exists. 5/12/18

Nostalgic, brings to mind many an old movie set in a different world from the movies of today. Well done, kudos on your placement...one of the best, I would agree.

Really a lovely write, Sian. It makes me sad to witness the end of the greatest generation. There were so many things about those days that should have never changed.
