Like a Child
Like a Child
Like a child you tenderly gather me into the soft folds of the nourishing feast of forgiveness. A shivering lamb living in the distraught, existing in my sparse pastures where only weeds of gorse grow. Where the famine of regret sees me toddle off again into realms of the bleak – kingdoms of hungry drought deaf to your shout of hope. Like a shepherd find me there wallowing in my foolishness. Speak your gentle invitation to me to lay my head upon your broad shoulders in strong caresses open to every cherished lamb returned to your deeply lived Eden aglow with the grace of starlit blessings luminescent with peace in night’s ever evolving, unfinished psalms, wilderness’ fabled poems. In your arms love awaits its turn to glow for this child from a starry perch and capture eternal delight in loveliness’ caress. And like a lamb child, feasting in the technicolor of mercy, robe my scattered heart with your ever-present seamless robe when prophecy shears old wool leaving a new nakedness where wisdom lingers in soft bleating dawns and the promise of your compassion soothes in the cool of the twilight. Like a child I reach to touch the first evening star climbing into your generous lap, the eternal shepherd, to sigh in the corralled contented compassion for this rogue lamb. Amen!
