Life's Cruel Deeds
Whatever you do with life's cruel deeds
Your heart should never show,
The tears that build behind your eyes,
That will soon begin to flow.
The doubt and pain that's in your head,
The confusion in your soul,
Shouldn't be the reason you yield
To give up self-control.
Sometimes prayers get answered,
But that wasn't God's hand at all.
It was you that found the courage.
It was you who made the call.
God doesn't make the future real
Like many fools are told.
God just made the laws that cause,
The outcomes to unfold.
So never let the shaman's eye
Convince you he's in charge.
The only thing that brings resolve
Will be your own regard.
