Life Is Sweet

In the space of six weeks,
had two operations,
the first was plain sailing,
the second one I began failing.
Everything went wrong,
I caught a super bug,
heart, liver kidneys, lungs
oh and oxygen level sunk.
I was in a scary place,
Elias saw it on my face,
he called the paramedics
for he could not wake me,
our two boys were afraid.
Thank God I was brought back,
two days in ICU four in
the general ward, eventually,
I wanted to come home,
I wanted to wash my
hair and give it a good comb.
The doctor said OK but,
No medicines allowed,
I stuck it out,
I’m feeling better today,
than I did yesterday,
have realized that life is sweet,
and a treat, I will meet,
my maker one day,
and I nearly did,
but it wasn’t my time,
my bell did not chime,
doctors think I caught
a Covid related bug,
Covid is a vagabond, a
rogue and a thug,
will it ever say goodbye,
or does it need humans,
it’s hungry appetite to satisfy.

You have definitely been unlucky health wise, Jenny. Covid is still around, and though many people consider it to be Just like the flu it can be much worse. Yours appears to have been a very scary experience. But knowing you, you'd not throw in the towel that easily!! ~ Warm regards and hugs, my friend // paul

You’ve certainly been through the wringer Jennifer, I was away on holiday myself so was unaware of this brush with your maker, yeah life definitely can be all the sweeter, if given a second chance, now you have a new grandchild to look forward too, we just never know what’s around the corner, and can take nothing for granted, I’m so happy you’re on the mend, cheers David

So well penned Jennifer on a piece so personal and pray you're over the worst of it. Things are good here, I've been busy having been included in a new book of Scottish poetry with most of the poems being mine which is encouraging. Take care my dear sister for you're precious to our poetry world. God bless, Gordon

So , so sorry. It is a, "Covid is a vagabond, a rogue and a thug," I just got over it myself, but it affect my eyes both swollen shut for a week . The Covid was not allowing it to heal with the antibiotics. Doctor had me on eye and oral antibiotics and it took 2 weeks to heal. I am still having problems seeing.

So sorry to hear that you have been sick. Thank God, you are out of danger and are convalescing. Wish and pray, you get back your former health at the earliest ! Your ability to take things in a light hearted manner is quite appreciable. That ugly monster Covid is still around. I had severe fever for almost a week and even after two weeks, I feel so fatigued. It wasn't Covid, but some kind of a viral attack. Stay safe. Love and blessings!

Yes, COVID is here to stay like the flu. We got a booster last week. I think that I am probably boosted up now to help me from dying from it, but I don't want to find out. We had it a little over a year ago and it was horrible even though we had our shots. Thanks for sharing this one and for dropping by my page. I am glad that you are better now, and I hope that you continue to heal. I have developed a thyroid problem which they say is happening to many people who have COVID. The fatigue is bad
