Letting In the Light

The ocean disappears into a horizon of gray. Clouds so dense there is no light behind. A heavy mist comes ashore as a spray. Dark waves, their white crests hard to find. Could this be an omen for what is ahead? A ominous beginning for the upcoming year? Thoughts of a new decade filled with dread, leaving an uncertain sense of underlying fear. Then I realized that I was seeking something, that allowed my pessimistic mood to take flight. Knowing that it would be an unfortunate thing, it was up to me to make a familiar wrong, right. A new year, new decade, an empty page to fill. Windows of opportunity to open, letting in the light. Ride the waves of uncertainty until they are still. Flow with the tides bringing a refreshed insight. A positive attitude, my resolution for the new year. Hoping to finally silence the whispers of doubt. Hold on to what is good, don't let it disappear. To see the positive side of what life is about.

Oh, I love this. I know what it is like when the dread can kick in and then returning with a positive attitude. This is great Sandy. Well written :)

Sandra, I love the optimism in this poem. Especially here: "A new year, new decade, an empty page to fill. Windows of opportunity to open, letting in the light."
