Letting Go Gracefully

I thought to write you a love poem and then thought, words need a little more – so I thought to paint you a blossom...then thought, a picture needs an actual scent charming enough to explore. So I got you a Corvette, you became the ride of the town – seldom to see you around… I think I will think less good riddance and God bless

Well, Joe, you’ve definely thought alot about the inner process + its outer (possibilities of ) manifestaions that experience teaches about breaking it off! I think most of us (romantic extroverts) get to the wise attitude of your last two lines! In my life, the Corvette can stand for a whole year of my ‘20’s! Oh no! Super penning & love the flow & formatting. Bravo!

Hi Sally -- One does not write about a whole lot of different things, subjects, without having done a whole lot of different things, subjects already and those made-up (Imagination, a soullful consort of the aritist) -- a lot I am not particularly prowd of...and a lot I am. It is a spicy mix that salts and peppers poetry of interest. Not a necessity, but far easier to write after one has actually done something. Blessings my friend.

Hi Anne; as you know, with poets, like Rodolfo, love and poetry come before food and shelter. I will stand out in the cold hungry for a kiss and a poem. Thank you, Anne. Blessings.

For sure; not always without pain, but like with exercise, the results are what matter. Hopefully we are better afterwards. Blessings my friend.

Some never stop with giving just something. They keep adding to what they have given already as their love for the person increases. You seem to belong to that group. But some take advantage of that. So watch out who is given, though there is greater joy in giving than in receiving. Humorously expressed dear Joe.

Hi Valsa; if it is one's nature to give, most poets have it, then we will always give -- Till zowie!~the right person comes along, and everything is alright...disappointments of the past forgotten.

Hi Si; just a silly little made-up story for laughs, but I guess it does register with many, in the sense that I have had relationships in my life that I wish had been handled better, had had better outcomes. The positive -- the more experiences a writer has, especially those that are deeply felt, the more diversified and living the words of his poetry.

For sure, love never takes advantage. Instead of a Corvette I should have bought her a donkey...but she had one of those already:) Thank you, Vie. Have a beautiful weekend. Blessings.

Sad ending to a love affair. Girl got the corvette. I remember a girl/woman once who rode around in a corvette, but I won't discuss how she got it. Thanks for sharing this one and for dropping by my page. Sara

A fun read, Joe. She wasn't the one for you. Graceful is the honored way to let go!

She just sold that 57 Corvette, and paid cash for new Lexus, waving hello to me at a stop:)

Generosity can be addictive, and often makes us feel good, until we are taken for a ride. There's a lesson to be learned, keep you're eyes open wide, and beware if all the "giving" seems to be coming from your side !!! Your poem is unique and original and marvelous Joe. Best wishes from SV

Hi SV. Thank you. Written to bring a smile. At my age/stage in life, I am grateful that nothing was done to me that I cannot forgive -- I hope others are able to find it in their hearts to show me the same generosity where possible. Blessings my friend.
