Letter To a Lost Love
The night was young and full of promise still
the music kept beat with my heart
the lights in a flash to compete with the mood
revealed but a glance of your face
I had to approach you though shackled with fear
and to my surprise, you approved
We exited quietly to walk with the moon
in search of an intimate chase
A midnight affair that lingered till four
with kisses much hotter than sun
A love so intense as to shatter the earth
and shiver the spine of the bold
I held tight my love, I needed much more
a lifetime would never fulfill
As passion then parted with vows of resolve
the hope of reunion was slim
I knew I could not hold you, can water hold the sky
yet fantasy hijacked my soul
A brief romance only was then my reward
though one that lives on without end
Forever it seems since I tasted of your lips
yet even still, I can’t forget that night
I’ll not forget the music or the moon or beating hearts
when even I but only hear your name
I remember everything
