The pale speckled gates had been shut.
We're saying our final goodbyes to the city.
Dawn is breaking through the fortified walls.
The calming silver haze of dawn,
A sparkling, gleaming beacon of joy,
It's a new day, a fresh beginning.
I scribbled every morning.
