Let Me Be
I want to be a small town,
But am forced to be a metropolis.
I want to be a garden,
But am forced to be a field.
I want to be the north star,
But am forced to be the moon.
I want to be an eagle,
But am forced to be a flock of vultures.
I want to be a lake,
But am forced to be an ocean.
Either way,
I am beautiful,
And I am strong.
Let me be me.
Don’t force upon me
What I should be.
