When fear tugs at my dreams Shadowing the joy With dread and dismay Discouraging the light with dark That echoes alarm Through the silhouettes Of anguish and pain… I turn to the One who brings me Through the storms Across the mountains of melancholy The gloom that explodes With its roaring rage, its angry Rays of restraint, dampening The faith that leads me to His grace Where I can find a way Through the worry, the ache I turn to the One to whom I pray Thy will be done – knowing His way brings the light to my heart The hope to my thoughts The peace to my turbulence Thy will be done is the way to say He is the only One who remains When all hope has gone and the pain Lingers on my heart, overpowering The wonder of a love so alive It is like a raging fire inside Dancing through the murk and mire When all hope has gone and I’m alone With the anxiety, tempting Me to listen to its panic as it trembles Through my heart, through my thoughts Beckoning for me to an anxious place Filled with fears, tears and years Of misunderstood feelings and doubt Pouring over my heart’s quest For a peace that only grace can harvest With its phenomenal mercy, its prayer For His hand to fall over my soul With a love that is vibrant and bold A love that only God himself can show To the spirit who believes and receives The Son, the answer to every fear The comfort for every doubt The healing from the inside out Thy will be done is the prayer I pray When I need to say, “Dear God… Take away this pain, this sorrow, and Fill my heart with a love only You Can inspire and assure, bring to life Inside my soul where You remind me… Courage in life comes from Your direction The knowing that bravery is a sign That You are the Lord of my spirit!”
